The Song That Gets Me Through the Day: Merle Haggard - Mama Tried

One and a Half Days Left in September

My birth month is coming to an end. This means that my Single Release, 'Part Time Lady' to the radio is right around the bend. I am working with Grassroots to get everything in order and I am really getting anxious. I am sure people are gonna like the song but this will be another chapter in my tale. Once this song hits the radio, it will be my responsibility along with Grassroots to promote the HECK out of this song! October 10th will be the start and I will be asking everyone for help with the push. All you would need to do when the time comes is to call your radio station and ask them to play it..... Pretty easy. I will let you know when that is! Thanks everyone.
Here is a little treat for ya. I just got my photos back from the shoot I just did a few days ago. I am just posting one. When you guys see it. Write me back on Facebook and tell me what you think. Thanks ya'll!

The Song That Gets Me Through Today: Patsy Cline - Crazy Arms

Blue is not the word for the way that I feel and the storm brewing in this heart of mine.

Cold and Flu Season

A ton of feathers weighs the same as a ton of rocks....just there will be a lot more feathers. Today I woke up and it felt like I had a ton of feathers lying on me. Not as painful as rocks, but still, it didn't feel that nice. I'm getting sick. Over the last two days my throat, nose, and sinuses have progressively deteriorated into a sniffling, stuffy mess. There will be no singing while I attempt my recovery.
I walked into the pharmacy at Walgreen's this morning, explained my story, and was given Generic Brand Claritin D by the pharmacist who went on to have me sign a waiver. I said, "What? Is this a wrongful death disclaimer?" jokingly, but the Doc said that it was me promising that, "I will not use this medicine to create Crystal Meth..." I feel like if I WERE going to use it for an ingredient in my favorite drug (Just kidding), I would still sign the waiver saying I wouldnt.....
Today will be dedicated to songwriting, administration, promotion, and the betterment of one 5'22" guy I know all too well. Good Morning/Afternoon People! -M.Marinchick

A Combination of Cash, Wayne, and Paisley.

I dont recall if I stated in my last blog entry, how amazingly well the photo shoot went the other day, but if I did, then I am just reiterating. Over the 3 different locations throughout Nashville, I think that we got some amazing shots! When I've explained it to people I can only express it by saying that I felt like a cross between Johnny Cash, John Wayne, and Brad Paisley in these pictures.
The quest to piece together a band continues today at Justin's place. Drummer and Guitar Player. In the mean time, I will be working on some songs to play with this said band. Im always baffled by how many songs our brains can actually memorize! There's a lot more space up there than I thought!!!!

My Third Monday in Nashville

The beginning of week number three is here. As I prepare for the week I have to step back and look at where I am at. Music City, thousands of people come here by the week to see what makes this city so alive. The music, the people, and the nightlife are what made ME fall in love with Nashville. There are some people who look at this same city and see it as the place where dreams were broken, hopes were shattered and a lifetime of practice, writing, and performing are put to an end. As I am just a newcomer I hope to never see those days. I have been having a fair amount of success and I'm working hard to keep it going. I am thankful for everyone who has supported me, my venture down here to pursue my passion, and my journey as a country singer hoping to make it BIG! Thank you! -Matt Marinchick

The Song That Will Get Me Through Today: David Allan Coe - You Never Even Called Me By My Name

Sunday Morning: Hair and Make-Up

Photo shoot today. Break out the black eyeliner and the mousse, I'm gonna go "mysterious" for this session... Emo-Country will be my new niche.

But seriously though, I DO have a photo shoot today! Photos by Jan, a good friend who is originally based out of L.A..(Do you put a period after another period if your sentence ends with a period like, "L.A."?) We are either heading to a train track (Traditional Country Scene) or a bar. I have complete faith in Jan. He is an amazing photographer. I can see by the photos he has done and the passion he has when he talks about creating that I have nothing to worry about. This will be an all day shoot and I am really excited about it. Justin is coming to so we are gonna do some solo stuff and a couple pics together as he will be my lead guitarist once the 'playing out' gets up and running.

Side note: I bought a pair of unnecessary running shoes at Nordstrom yesterday. Realizing when I got home that the running shoes I have at home are in near mint condition, I now know my next trip to the mall will be to take my money back from the fine people in the Nordstrom shoe department (If anyone with 'BIG' feet need to find shoes, I suggest you look there though).

Workin for the Weekend

Saturday is here. Another work week has come and gone! My Friday was an exciting one because it was the day I released my Demo. It's such a great feeling to have people sending messages asking how and where to purchase something you made! The artist in me was overwhelmed at the great response.
Later that day, I got to experience to of Nashville's finer points. Yazoo Brewery and South Street. I'm definitely going back. I topped off the night by heading out with my bro Justin Huffman (soon to be Jutt Huffman - Lead Guitar Virtuoso) to Tin Roof and Red Rooster. I considered Friday a celebratory day because of the release so I stayed out a lot later than normal and I am very glad I did! Some dancing out at the club filled in the cracks.... I forgot to tell you I can dance like nobody is watching... and they shouldn't be.
Im headin to the mall soon, just window shopping but "Jutt" needs some new jeans. Im a tag-along today.
Tomorrow I have my photo shoot. Glamour Shots by Jan....Should be a great time!

Today is the Day: Album Release

I will end this post with a little promotion for my album but I wanted to just say a few words about the lead up to this Friday as I release my Demo to the public.
A month ago I came down to Nashville in hopes of recording my demo and getting to meet some people who can turn me in a direction to start walking down in hopes of getting something going with my music career. Now 27 days later, I'm sitting in front of my laptop pushing my demo album (that I couldn't be happier with), a single release for Part Time Lady set for October 10th, and a radio promotion tour getting set to kick off. I am loving what is happening. The leap of faith has been showing to be fruitful. As soon as I stopped letting my own hesitations get in the way of what I felt God was calling me to do, doors started opening and paths to go down started being revealed. I would like to end with the verse from the Bible that started it all of for me....2 Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the Lord search to and fro about the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His."

After the Meeting

Alrighty! Well, I just want to fill everyone in on what is going on now that I am back from my meeting. I met the whole Grassroots team except one who was busy with a separate radio tour promotion. They are a great group of people who I am excited to work with. The meeting was comprised of them introducing themselves and their work to me, me introducing myself to them on a deeper level, a 3 song acoustic performance, a business plan, and I was out the door. More specifically we are about to initiate the music push for 'Part Time Lady' and start the radio tour. In the next few days, more and more information will be heading my way expressing the specific details of what will be going on.
I'm really excited to start traveling around and introducing myself and my music to THE WORLD! I feel like I made 6 new friends today. Like I said, they are a great bunch of people. -Matt Marinchick

Big Thursday

Well today is the day I've been looking forward to since the day I got to Nashville. Today is the first day of the push for one of my songs. Part Time Lady is going to be my single and Grassroots is going to be pushing it for me, with my help. I am heading into ASCAP (Music Royalties Company) and doing some interviews, an acoustic set and officially giving the go-ahead for the song! The song is going to be pushed to 300+ radio stations along with another drive that sends my single along with all the other singles that come out at the same time to 1700 radio stations! Thanks to Paul Lovelace at CDX for that! All singles that go to radio stations are placed on a compilation CD that DJ's can access all of them. So for instance, if Brad Paisley were to come out with a single at the same time as mine, his song would be right up there next to mine! Pretty cool, and a great opportunity to get my song heard!

As far as my album release is going. Things are pretty much set for Friday's release. I am having a little difficulty with my UPC Bar Code information. Hopefully I hear back soon and I can get it straightened out! I WILL FIND A WAY NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS TO GET THE CD OUT!!! :)

Thanks ya'll
