New Happenings (Jan. 26, 2012)

It's been awhile. Time to let you guys know whats going on.....
ALBUM FOR SALE ON iTUNES

Well, I just got to go on Wall-to-Wall Sports 10TV in Columbus, Ohio. Talk some basketball and perform my song Chasin' Me. That was a great experience and I had a great interview with Beau Bishop! As an Ohio State Buckeye Basketball Player I always wanted to be on this TV Show... Even though it was after my basketball career, I still had a blast and I fulfilled a dream of mine.
I had driven there from Nashville so I put a lot of miles on the highway but I enjoyed the solitude of the long ride and listened to a lot of albums. With 14 hours of driving round trip I was able to get a lot of good music in!
I had a biography written up wonderfully by Chuck Dauphin of Billboard and I can't wait to start throwing it all over my websites for people to read. Its well written and tells a good bit about myself.
I am booked for the Music Fest in Kelly, Kentucky. I am booked for the Ohio Cattlemen's Expo in Columbus, Ohio. I am waiting to hear back from GastroPub in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am hoping to book some shows in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi soon!
I am still in search of a full-time bassist for my band. Anyone know of anyone? I would greatly appreciate any help towards finding a solid one.
Last night I played at the Church of Scientology for a couple hours with Jutt and Logan. Sounds strange to play there but they hold a writers night and even though that place isnt my thing, Some cool people got to hear my music and I may have sparked some more interest in the movement.
I am playing tonight (Jan. 26) at Hotel Indigo. Its a Writers Round so I will play 3 songs along with 2 other writers in Nashville. Its a great opportunity to get my songs out to people who have never heard me play! Anyone in Nashville tonight, I go on at 7:30pm..... Come on in, the water is warm!

Acoustic Sessions with Matt Marinchick

Starting last week I began what will be a series of acoustic versions of new songs with my band. Jutt Huffman on Guitar and back-up vocals and Logan Snedeker on percussion will perform with me the new stuff I've written down in Nashville with some other great writers. So far I have posted 'Chasin Me' and 'Better by the Beer'. I almost have enough to do this weekly for 6 months!!!! So keep checking in on the new music and tell your friends about it! This should be a very fun way to get the word out about my music and my life down in Nashville! Enjoy!

American Hero: Ed Freeman (Jan. 4th)

Every once in awhile you get a story that inspires you and touches you in a way that motivates you. This was one of those stories. My Dad sent me this email today with this in it and I have to share it with you all! I hope you take the time to read about this man who stepped up when so many would never imagine doing so....

You're a 19 year old kid.
You're critically wounded and dying in
the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Vietnam
It's November 11, 1967.
LZ (landing zone) X-ray.
Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the MedEvac helicopters to stop coming in.
You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you're not getting out.
Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you'll never see them again.
As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.
Then - over the machine gun noise - you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.
You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn't seem real because no MedEvac markings are on it.
Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.
He's not MedEvac so it's not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.
Even after the MedEvacs were ordered not to come. He's coming anyway.
And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.
Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.
And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!
Until all the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.
He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.
Medal of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise , Idaho
May God Bless and Rest His Soul.
I bet you didn't hear about this hero's passing, but we've sure seen a whole bunch about Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods and the bickering of congress over Health Reform.
Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman
Shame on the American media !!!
